Suspended IAS officer approaches SC/ST Commission
CHENNAI: IAS officer C. Umashankar, who has been placed under suspension, has approached the National Commission for SC/ST requesting protection from “illegal harassment” by the Tamil Nadu government.
Mr. Umashankar requested the panel to ensure that enquiry, if any, regarding his caste certificate is conducted by the Central Vigilance Commission, CBI or any other Central agency.
He had been suspended pending enquiry to scrutinise the genuineness of his SC community certificate.
He had submitted the community certificate to the UPSC.
It was duly verified and, thereafter, the result published.
