The Tamil Nadu Government today clarified that IAS officer C Uma Shankar was only placed under suspension on charges of producing fake community certificate to join the IAS cadre and no final action had been taken against him.
An official release here said based on a complaint that he had submitted fake certificate to join the IAS cadre, the government, without ignoring it, formed a three-member committee to go into it.
After confirming that the complaint needed investigation, the government initiated disciplinary proceedings and placed him under suspension temporarily to ensure a free and fair inquiry.
”The government has not taken any final decision. He has been only placed under suspension. A final decision on the charges will be taken after the probe,” the release said, adding, suspension could not be construed as a punishment.
